    Hi everyone!
Just to let you all know that we have our annual leisure/sportive Tour of South Meath taking place later this month - love to see some of you on the day!

So, the event is taking place on Sun 28th Sept., with two route options:
    - 50km (incorporating the Rapparree Reunion)
    - 100km taking in the stunning Hill of Tara

....and both with a big feed for everyone back in Mother Hubbards after the event!!

On the 100km route, there are 3 separate groups rolling out, to cater for different levels of fitness (25kmh, 28kmh and 32+kmh).

All the details are on our website (unable to post the link unfortunately), but look for clonardroadclub-dot-com and follow the link for 'events' ;)

Hi folks, just a very slight change to proceedings: the sign-on location will be actually in Mother Hubbards itself, rather than in the Log Cabin in the car park as initially planned.

Other than that, it's all systems go for tomorrow, and we even have a dry day booked for you, with light winds and mild temperatures....might even see a bit of sun! :)

Just got last minute planning permission. See you there tomorrow.

Think I will give it a lash as well. First sportive for me so not sure what to expect. I recently did a 110km charity cycle at 28 kph average so hopefully won't be too far off the pace.

Just thought of this but do I need to be a member of CI?

No. Membership of C.I. not required.
One day membership will be included in your entry.
If you can manage an average speed of 28KPh, I imagine, you'll be just fine.
    Enjoy.

There's 3 speed groupings, a 25,a 28 and a 32kph group. I was going to try the 32 kph but a friend is doing it with me and he reckons he's more 25 so we'll go in the 28 as a compromise.
And I'd more than likely blow up in the 32 anyway.
Mind you, all the hills are in the first 50 so it should be a leisurely enough spin home after Tara.

Would have liked to have done this but otherwise engaged in the morning, looks like a nice spin and in any dealings I've had with the Clonard lads they've been top class.

Just back from this now. Great spin, well organised and nice roads. Went out in the main group which was supposed to be 28kph but ended up doing the 105k at 30.8kph according to Strava. Well done to the Clonard Road Club who are a sound bunch!

That first hour or so was a bit nuts, I think the average was closer to 38 than 28 until around Summerhill

Yeah the last hour was even more nuts for me. I was in a group of about 7 riders and was delighted to hang onto back of them. I did a turn at the front that lasted about a kilometre until I was swallowed up and chucked out the back:D

Well done Clonard CC. That was one of my favourite sportives of the year. Very good marshalling and Garda support. Hot food at the end.
Three different speed groups is a great idea even if the 28k group had a liberal interpretation of 28km/hr. Will return next year.
