Need help after Testosterone Medication side effects

    Hi,

Couldn't find Men's Issues and I wasn't sure if it allowed anon posting...

I've been plagued with different medical issues over the last 18 months, 2 years (obviously won't go into specifics, but some serious, some not so, some un-resolved/treatment ongoing).

I've been stuck in bed a lot and gained a bit of weight, nothing much just a slight paunch from lack of exercise/not eating the best all the time.

Thing is, one of the problems that affected me, nearly a year ago now, caused my testosterone to drop heavily. I was given gel to use.

As a side-effect (it's listed) I've developed moobs, mannaries, whatever.

This happened before the weight gain I mentioned above, which in a way masks the problem. But I've always been a fit built guy, it's just not normal. Can't even do situps because of bad back and a Hernia.

    <mod snip>

But noticeable if I were topless, wearing a tight t-shirt, in a wet t-shirt competition...

What will get me back to normal???

I can't really work out at the moment due to medical issues. When I can, I would be afraid of 'muscle-ising' (yeah I made a word) the area, making it more permanent.

Are there certain workouts I could do? Not eat much at all for a while? Anything to get my chest back to normal.

Thanks for listening, any advice is welcome. Jokes expected, leave them at it 'mods - it's funny.

Just a foreword to posters, please don't offer any medical advise.
OP - once this thread goes down that route we will have no choice but to close it.

    Thanks
    Taltos

    Thanks Taltos,

Mods + Posters, that is not what I am looking for.

Just perhaps someone who has suffered the same side-effects/or knows a good workout etc to get rid of man-boobs...

I have never really exercised before. And as I said in the OP, I'm afraid of developing pecs that make the shape more permanent, that would be the last thing I want obviously!

Any advise really welcome, this is ruining my confidence, sex-life with my OH, everything...

If you can't do a lot of exercise then maybe a low intensity workout on your chest coupled with an extremely low fat diet might burn off the excess fat.
I'm talking about little to no weight with long repitition. It will probably be a very slow process. Maybe using a resistance band for rehabilitation
I do reckon diet is key here though. get on a low carb diet.

Thanks for getting back to me...

Ok, my GF's Sister is a Dietician or something related to that. Might have a word and ask her to come up with something.

Kinda hard to eat well when you're broke (I mean good proper natural stuff), still waiting for disability payments to kick in after nearly 2 years but that's another story....

    I know this sounds stupid, but to work on that area of my chest with a low weight, long repetition workout;

Would I lie on a bench (or floor) and lift straight up-down-up-down?

Or stand and like move my arms in and out towards my chest?

See how clueless I am?? :)

If anybody can describe (better than me!) or provide a link to the kind of workout that would be best for this particular issue, that would be amazing...

    Thank you CdeC, much appreciated...

I wouldnt worry about them turning to muscle
    1) its difficult to develop muscle, it wont just naturally happen
    2) losing fat is almost unrelated to building muscle
    3) if they did turn to muscle they wouldnt look anything similar to they do now.

If its fat, you can work it off. If its actual breast tissue, you need to go see a doctor to confirm it. Then you will also need to discuss your options with him.

    Thanks Cuddles, will do,

At the moment I see my Doctor a lot, so embarrassing as it maybe, I will follow up check with him soon.

Thing is, he's a good doctor, but not exactly fit himself. Don't really want to ask him what exercise I should do to get my pecs back in order. Dude.

I have taken on board the diet, I'm eating the same as I have for my whole life, but been confined to bed/not doin' a lot for nearly a year. So obviously if I'm not doing a days worth of stuff, I don't need a days worth of fuel.

So I need to start slow, low weight and high reps, but how? (at home not a gym)

If anybody knows anything about the muscle groups (not medical advice, just exercise, like a working knowledge) what kind of stuff should I do as to not exasperate the problem?

I don't want no 6-pack, flat chested and skinny, a little built from cycling and swimming, did me all my life. Until I got sick.

I'm not aiming too far above that... Or far at all :)

Why not post in The Gentlemen's Club?

I wasn't really familiar with that forum, I thought this was the only place with anon posting.

& I thought The Gentleman's Club was more of a social forum, not problem/help me related.

Will also check in and read a few threads...

Thanks guys for the advice and not joking, I know it's against the forum charter but I at least expected a few puns. I guess that's how I've been dealing with it, just poking fun at myself.

I should probably stop! I feel pretty crappy, confined to bed/house I've lost a lot of confidence and become lonely and isolated.

(already getting treatment for depression/anxiety/panic attacks. Agoraphobia, which has nothing to do with with open spaces but is a social anxiety, and fear of not being able to escape. I'd be fine in a big open space with no people, but freaked out on a claustrophobic packed luas or bus.

    Funny that.

I'm getting ongoing treatment for all that too so no need to advise I see the doc, getting it sorted, well hypothetically. Like I said, due to physical illness I can't get out much and don't really see anyone but my OH, it's making me more withdrawn and self-concious the longer it goes on, vicious loop thing)
