Free to Air Sat Box; Error Message "No Signal Received"

    Hi all:

    I had a sat dish installed for the Free to Air channels for 2 TV's in house.

    I had a Goodmans sat box for one TV. After a year, we started to lose the signal on that TV, the signal was there one day, then next day gone, until it went completely. The other TV was fine, and still is.

    So I thought the Goodmans box had packed in. I bought a S/H Sky Box and plugged it in. but still receiving the error massage "No Signal Received".

    I have changed over the leads from the sat box for the TVs, and the good TV is still working, whatever channel the exterior cable is plugged into the dish.

    So I'm putting this down to the exterior coaxial cable coming from sat dish, through the wall into sat box.

    Is there something else I'm missing? I thought the coaxial cable was relatively bullet proof and it seems totally sound to me.

    For anyone reading, this is def a problem with the coax. Which I find hard to believe.

    Has anyone else had coax pack in after a under 2 years? Is there cheap stuff out there that this happens with?

    Cable could've been damaged during installation and may have deteriorated over time. Any sharp bends in the cable? Water ingress damage?

    One other thing to check before replacing the cable, the connectors at both ends, ensure they're secure on the cable (also secure to the LNB at the dish end) and that no part of the outer braid is touching the inner core wire, have a look at the video here under the video guide tab.

    In any case there are various grades of co-ax cable, CT100 satellite grade cable would be recommended if replacing the existing cable, see here http://www.cai.org.uk/information/benchmarking-scheme/cai-benchmarked-cables
