    Hey guys,

I'm thinking of going to Dubai for a week at the end of October.

Anyone give me some suggestions/tips on what to do over there, places that are must see etc.

    Thanks

Dubai is fantastic and October is a great time of year to go. I went last year for a week in October and loved it. Try to stay near jumeriah beach if possible but if it's too pricey stay near the mall of the Emirates. These are the most central locations and closest to the tourist attractions. We got taxis everywhere which were cheap but you can get the metro to save money either. We went to the water park which was our favourite thing we did, I would highly recommend it. We also went skiing in the mall of the Emirates, went to aquarium in the dubai mall, did the desert safari, went for afternoon tea in the burj al Arab which was very expensive but fantastic, we went to jumeriah beach one day which was lovely and then went to madinat Jumeriah after which is a lovely big hotel with souks in it so you can stroll around them and then have dinner and a drink in one of the restaurants and bars. It was a fab holiday!

Also the two malls, dubai mall and mall of the Emirates are great for a stroll around in the evening. They open til about 10 I think so was nice to go for dinner, do some shopping and people watching was very interesting there. They also have the skiing and aquarium in them, if you don't do these you can watch them from outside which is cool. Shopping isn't much cheaper than here but amazing selection of stuff, so many shops and lots of great American shops which we don't have here like American Eagle.

Thank you so much for all the information!! greatly appreciate it!

Its sounds perfect! I don't think it's too hot there in Oct (above 33 C)...I wouldn't be too worry about the temperature anyway but if its extremely warm it might be difficult to do stuff outside!

I like the sound of the desert trip! I really want to immerse myself into their culture so I want to do as much as I can in a week...I hope a week is long enough! There are lots of travel deals at the moment for 4-5nights...but I think flying all the way its better to at least go for a week min!

Is eating out expensive? I've been to Oz and it's incredibly expensive there! I heard Dubai was not cheap...but the other place that probably is would be Thailand! :P

We didn't find it very expensive at all. Meals are slightly cheaper than here or almost the same price. Our hotel was a lovely four star hotel and food was so cheap. We found it cheaper to eat in the restaurants in the malls rather than the hotels although you can buy alcohol in those restaurants.
We went for a week and it was a great amount of time, any less and we would have felt we missed out on things. We loved the desert safari, you do dune bashing, camel ride, sand boarding, dress up in Arab clothing, get a henna tattoo, smoke a shisha, watch some traditional dancing and eat a local meal which was really nice, great experience!
