You firstly have to be reasonably musically inclined (Wouldn't think it going by today's standards) but I'd check out YouTube and perhaps a course (There are a few run in Dublin) Depends how you learn actually. I'm best hands on with a tutor, as if I don't have that I get bored. Some people can watch 4 hours of YouTube and that's enough for them to get started.

At the end of the day, its not down to the software. You should try them all and use the one that suits you best.

^ Give that a go, fantastic piece of kit, demo is 100% uncrippled (can save and export etc, unlike 99% of all the other software packages out there), a non-commercial license is only 50 dollars, and even after the 30 day trial is up you can still use the demo after a brief nag-screen urging you to register.

It's basically got all the features that Logic X does, as well as a whole load more geeky stuff under the hood. Learning curve is steep enough but there's loads of tutorials out there as well as a really helpful community and developers who are very quick to add any requested features in any of the regular updates.
