Thankfully a British station is showing it in HD as RTE don't see fit to do so in the sticks.

I really hope David Beckham gets to third base and scores a touchdown.

Can't get a terrestrial signal here.

    Up Tipp!

I used to hate the hurling final as a kid. The day after was usually the first day back in school.

Kilkenny have a winning look about them.

What did you do before digital?

All Irish people in Croke Park. I can't see any immigrants.

80,000 and you won't see half of them for some league match in the freezing cold next time round. AI Finals usually bring out the band wagon supporters.

Had Sky since 1991. Before that it was a sixty foot aerial that all but demolished a pighouse one windy night.

I was mostly brought up with Julian on the UTV.

So you are advocating on behalf of whatever proportion of the 2% who can't get Saorview also do not have Sky, unlike yourself. An even bigger number never got RTE on analogue pre Saorview so I presume most of them made the same solution as yourself.

I always have trouble following the little ball, same with golf. Think I need glasses.

Hard for any sport to follow this but it is gonna make the Georgia v Ireland qualifier even more painful to watch

    Anyones game at this stage.

Not mad into GAA really. The best thing about football is the fights.

The stick fighting is alright too though, very fast.

I try not to watch hurling, because it tends to soften my hatred of all things GAA.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,034 ✭✭✭mad muffin

Would be more interesting if the hurles had blades on the ends of them.

When you travel and broaden your mind you realise how bad and unskilled a game it actually is

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,147 ✭✭✭PizzamanIRL

I'm watching English people's reactions to hurling on twitter more than I'm watching the match.

You've never tried to play it then

Thought I'd clicked on the sport forum in error. Who's playing anyway? I know it's usually a couple of counties from a very short list but I haven't heard who it is this year.

I hate almost everything about the GAA, but hurling is far from an unskilled game.

I'm watching this in an English pub in Fuengirola. Loadsa Irish here. Apart from one guy who was being a twat, the non-Irish people are gebuinely interested and curious as to how the game works.

Out of interest, what are these intetnational sports that make hurling look unskilled.

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,030 Mod ✭✭✭✭Say Your Number

That was a terrible score, sure any old eejit could have done that

Oh lord! Where to begin? Most if not all international sports require a substantial level of skill. Hurling is probably no more nor less skilful than many but it is not an international sport.

I always find there's a mirror effect between Tipp and England when they face Kilkenny and Germany respectably. No matter what the predictions are, no matter how hard they play, no matter what lead the build up, Tipp always lose by 1 point and England on penalties.

There is always that one exception like 2010 Tipp win and England's 5-1 win in 2001, which just generates enough hope so that fans can still be disappointed.
