Are compression shors used or can they be used to stop schaffing of the thighs ?

Out walking with normal boxers they keep creeping up the back crack or around the nuts , quite annoying so im after a solution , yes i know losing weight helps , im working on it , but for now are compression shorts adequate ?

I have a couple of pairs of these:

I wear them under my tracksuit pants. Initially bought them for the chafing reason, but now couldn't go without them for any exercise at all. They offer serious comfort, and although i can only speak for the ones in that link and not all shorts, they go to just above the knee, so prevent chafing all along the thighs (I was worried about getting a pair that sat too high up the leg).
