    He's good but why his popularity here over the likes of Tim McGraw? He's really not any better.

    perhaps his music appeals to the deeply sentimental streak that a lot of us share.

    Easy listening and fun guitar riffs. Most people enjoy this kind of music. Never seen him live, but he's meant to be a great showman which is another bonus in the marketing department.

    It's more the charisma than the music - same reason people watch and pledge money to those TV preachers.

    I love American country music but I don't bother with Garth. Never did. Never will.

    The Garth lovers could hardly name many other country artists working and recording today.

    The Irish love a bandwagon. Sure, didn't they destroy their own fine economy with one.
