    Hi mods, just a quickie,

But after the recent changes will there be a review done on their affect in the future or will there be a chance to give feedback on their positives and negatives?

I'm not mentioning either and I don't encourage people to feedback here but will the opportunity be given in time?

Feel free to lock/bin this I'm just looking for an answer and don't know who best to PM.

Layout is all that I'm referring to. Apologies, I was purposely vague above to personal kick offs in case any exist.

I was looking through the buying section and noticed many unreplied to threads but I remember them being more active when they were in the main forum. I'll admit I forget them from time to time and just see the link as another sticky.

I'm just wondering if the sub forums have affected usage and popularity overall.

I also noticed the 'quality' of some feedback or responses isn't great and is left unchallenged. I don't think it fair to users to point it out as some are just learning and doing their best ( we were all there once).

+1 to this query. without going into specifics, I feel that there are too many sub-forums and stickies and I don't read half what is there any more

That's pretty much it. I don't find myself looking at half the stuff.

The the people asking won't realise the responses are not great.
I was lurking years before registering an account, mainly its the soccer forum but I used to regularly pop into motors for a read, with all the sub forums now its not so easy, the main forum seems very quiet. I just look in the bangers and luxurynomics threads now mainly.

As a casual browser of this forum I really dont miss the "what car should I buy" threads, given that it was a tad tedious to see a variation of the same question being asked several times every day. They are perfectly valid threads and I have no issue with people asking them, but from a usablity point of view my opinion is that this forum is easier to use for having them in a sub-forum.

The detailing, upgrades (which I believe used to be modified cars forum?) and DIY sub-forums could probably be merged into the main forum with little impact, however I think in the case of the detailing forum especially it was actually requested by those who frequent it that it be made into a seperate forum?

Stickies are and always have been largely a waste of time; it is my experience as a user of several forums that they are largely ignored with the exception of short term notification/announcement stickies.

Hi, there is no review planned after the changes (new forums etc).
I suppose this thread will now be it.

The buyers threads are really just one simple example of what I've noticed. The detailing thread was rightly asked for and given. I think everyone there is happy enough about that as its specialist enough to survive and appeal.

Then again I'll gladly admit that another way of looking at the quieter forum is that shyte has been done away with. There was a lot of it to be fair.

Thanks for leaving it open Biko.

I think things are working great, a lot of the posts were about 'recommend me a car' so bloody boring to see that every day, now if someone wants advice they have a section dedicated to them and posters who are interested enough in the subject matter to answer them.

The only thing that I would like to see is a slow down in the "today I did something to my car" thread in favor of specific build threads for the cars in it. There are so many cars in that thread that have had an extraordinary amount of work done to them that it's a shame that the posts get lost in that thread and can't be read together easily. Some of the cars aren't the most interesting but the work and pride of ownership that goes into them is IMO. I know that not all cars deserve there own thread so the TIDSTMCT still has a purpose. Perhaps move it to the project section?

DGT's 406 springs to mind along with Chris_Heilong's Chaser as does JouJouJou's Corolla. I'm sure there are more too but that's what I can think of off the top of my head that are worthy of their own threads.

Also, how special would it be for a new owner of the car to take over the build thread like what happened to the 406 :)
