    Hello!
I will be commuting to UCD and my classes start at 9, while the earliest direct Bus Eireann arrives at 9:50. Does anyone know of an earlier option, may not be direct, or some private buses that go earlier?

    Thanks.

There is an express bus 2 from Wexford town that is due to ucd at about 8.00am.

The National Journey Planner www.a-b.ie indicates a very early start and getting the 6am train from Wexford to Greystones and then switching to an 84x. The only later option will have you in at 919 and that's the Bus Éireann 2 from Wexford at 7am.

[edit] Looks like Wexford Bus have a 6am service from Wexford, not sure why it's not showing up.

For my search it showed a journey starting at 8pm the day before from New Ross to Waterford then to Cork then to Dublin. Maybe it is just broken?

that train stops in Blackrock where you can change onto the no.17 bus - probably a better option than changing at Greystones.

Or perhaps the operator has not provided the NTA with the detailed timetable - checking the pdf there appear to be services operating on route 740 that are not included on the NTA database.

The information in the journey planner is only as good as that loaded onto it.

The only problem is, that I need to get to Wexford somehow early in the morning, and I don't really have an option to get from New Ross to Wexford, and I can't find anything that early. Direct New Ross - Dublin route would be a godsend. I was looking for some smaller bus companies, but I am internetally challenged and I can't find any :(

If I was going to UCD I wouldn't base myself in New Ross. It seems impractical, even if you had a car.

I am looking for accommodation now that I have thought about it. I was supposed to have few days in a week so I thought it would be ok if I commute to college (I am in 3rd year now, living with parents and for the last 2 years I was living in Dublin for the 9 months) but it seems that the earliest arrival is 9:50 and in some days my classes start at 9.

While it might be a godsend, a daily commuter service from New Ross to Dublin is something there is no market for so there isn't one.

With a car I would say it is a crazy commute to take on, without one it is completely impractical.

Bus Eireann route 5 is the only direct Dublin - New Ross service and even that is probably overkill for the demand from New Ross/Clonroche.

    From Wexford:
Bus Eireann at 05.50 or Wexford Bus at 06.00 to get to UCD around 08.00
    Bus Eireann 07.00 UCD 09.10
    Wexford Bus 07.20 UCD 09.35

If you're willing to drive to Wexford/Enniscorthy I'd go with the Bus Éireann or Wexford Bus service rather than the train - both bus companies stop right outside UCD whereas as pointed out you'll have to change to DARTs, buses or face a 15-20 min walk from Sydney Parade.

I've commuted that distance from Arklow for years, Wexford would probably be pushing it, especially with the drive from New Ross, unless you have a relatively low amount of class hours (if it's Arts or something like that).

A 15 min walk would be good for you, and if like me you are not a little Titch the legroom and tight seat clearance on buses sucks. Get the train to Sydney Parade.

Both those services are coaches, and have probably more room than the train it definitely the DART would
