    Hi,

A few weeks ago we started getting cards in the door that UPC would be upgrading the cables in our area and today they appear to have started.

I had a look and its a much thicker cable they are putting up.

However, the cables all got replaced in the area about 18 months ago and
we can already get their fastest broadband packages.

Any idea what they might be rolling out?

I think there may have been an "issue" with the cables they rolled out 18 months ago and they need to be replaced.

There probably won't be any immediate change in services you receive, however it will likely prepare the network for a future rollout of DOCSIS 3.1 and 1Gb/s broadband.

I had a chat with the lads that were working in my area in early August - more capacity for faster broadband and on-demand services was the reason I was told.
