Hey I'm a student just gone in to my last year of college. I've been trying to get experience over the last few months related in anyway to my course but havent got anything yet. I hoped to get soemthing so i would have higher prospects of getting a job at the end. at this stage i need a job to get through college but just wondering do you think should i take any work i can get now e.g bar work, etc or stay trying to get something relative to what i want to do

Take what you can get to get you some money short term while applying for what's relevant to get you money long term.

Spin it; explain you worked with direct customer interaction, dealing with difficult customers etc. in your time as bar work and how these experiences apply to hotel & catering.

I mean they asked me why i wasnt looking for jobs in hotel and catering. its not what i want to do at all, made me think i should avoid it for awhile if employers think thats what i should be doing from my cv
