    Hi guys,

Has anyone moved from smart telecom to efibre? It seems to be alot of hassle due to smarts own equipment in the exchange etc. Is there much of a downtime between switching services?

    Thanks

I moved from Sky bb to Eircom eFibre which would be a similar process. I chose Vodafone initially but due to the exact issues that you are worried about it was a disaster. I ended up with my calls with Vodafone and my dire bb with sky. Vodafone never sent me out a fibre router as their system kept telling them my line wasn't bb capable!!! To resolve it I had to put my calls back to sky and I then went to Eircom and it was all done and dusted within a few days without any break in service.

They just have to move you back in as a phone line only customer first and it should be ok. Prepare for down time during the move, get a three simcard and use 4G would be my choice.

Any idea how long it takes? We have no broadband or phone since this morning and don't want it to drag on for too long.

I booked my eFibre through the Eircom website which let me pick my installation date. The technician arrived, did the install and voila I was a happy eFibre customer. I did notice that sky were carrying my voice calls for about 2 more days. Definitely go with Eircom as they handled my transfer with ease and most importantly no interruption to either of my services (voice or BB).

Not sure of the exact times, lines has to be handed over back to eircom and then the fibre provide will start. It'll at least be a week would be my guess, but thats just a guess.

What way did you approach this? Did you sign up to your new provider first? Your new provider should handle the change over. In my old ADSL days I changed providers several times and the new provider that I was joining did all the transferring of calls and BB etc.

I signed up through Eircom. The hassle when switching from smart is different to other providers as they have their own equipment in eircoms exchanges so there is more work involved when switching. I was hoping for a day or two downtime at most!

Sky have the very same setup in the LLU exchanges, which mine is and I presume yours is an LLU exchange too. Have Eircom given you an install date?
