    went to pool for duck this evening brought my pointer setter cross pup shot a mallard that she did not see drop in weeds brought her over to spot threw in stone where duck was she swam out and had a great find came straight in to me with it am very happy with the way this 16 month bitch is working she also pointing snipe and phesant looking forward to her first season

    Sounds promising, setters and pointers don't tend to be mad about water, seems like you've got a good dog on your hands for many many more seasons. Any chance you'd post a pic of the bitch, I'm curious to know what she looks like?

    Be careful about throwing stones as she will expect anytime you fire a shot she will be waiting for you to throw something, could have detrimental effect when she gets older,you might lose a lot of birds

    I agree with Deerhunter be careful with throwing stones, I've a constant battle at home with kids throwing stuff for a springer, took ages to get her out of habit of looking for stuff to be thrown, so much so I don't even use dummy out of season with her to keep her sharp anymore
