I have a Technomate 6900HD dual sat and terrestrial box. I have an old 250GB IDE hard-drive which I salvaged from an old Sky+ standard def box.

I know some regular computer hard drive are not suited to PVR systems especially for CCTV as they cannot handle the continuous cycles of recording and overwriting. I used to have a 160GB hard drive before in a hard drive caddy but somehow both the caddy and hard drive simultaneously failed. My think it was a heat issue as the hard drive was enclosed in the caddy for hours with no fan.

I am looking to get a hard drive enclosure with a fan which I can use the old Sky hard drive in?

What setups are boardsies here using for recording?

I'd go for a WD Purple 2tb, assuming your STB accepts a 3.5" drive?

    Something like this:

Actually I have a hard drive already; a 250GB old Sky+ SD IDE hard drive from an old Sky+ box which had a faulty tuner.

What I want is a recommendation for a hard-drive caddy enclosure with a fan which will prevent the disk from over heating. I actually have Sky+ HD already and I'll only use this for recording programmes which I can't receive on Sky, eg. Channel 4 HD, RTE One HD, etc.

My main motiviation actually is I'd like to record the All-Ireland football Final in 3 weeks time in HD and then make a 1080i .mkv or .mp4 video file which I could later make a BluRay disk out of. I used to be able to do it before until my old Hard Drive and Caddy failed.
