Anyone else as excited as I am?

    http://www.volvocars.com/intl/all-cars/all-new-volvo-xc90/Pages/default.aspx#/firstedition

Go on sale at 15.00 today. First Edition model, limited run of 1927 vehicles. Only available on line via the link above.

Small issue of the price though. D5 AWD Geartronic - €106,950.

Standard models will be a bit more reasonable at €70,950 when they go on sale for the D5 AWD, with a cheaper 2WD version to follow.

Wonder will we see at least 1 in Ireland?

I don't know about the special edition, but there'll be multiple regular versions outside every primary school in the country within a year.

Any good for towing a 14x6 cattle trailer I wonder. Nice looking machine

Nice looking machine, pity there's around a 15k jump from the previous SE model new price. The post 08 tax killed them off (see very few of 10,11,12 plates on the road) as they were F for the diesel and G for the petrol models, now they're a bit more reasonable; D and E.

Its pretty much the same price as the SE normally was, there was a 15k drop this year for run out of the old model. SE was usually around the 70k mark.

The interior is up there with the best of them. http://jalopnik.com/the-new-volvo-xc90s-interior-is-pretty-damn-spectacular-1581951868

Not entirely gone on the new front grille, might take a while to grow on me.

Are you sure that wasn't the R-design? I thought the SE (lowest spec that had full leather) came in around the mid 50s.

Volvo may be aiming a bit more upmarket into X5/ML RR territory.

.. looked at buying a used one as a DD lately but mpg and tyre usage ruled it out. Was nice to drive though. ..

    V70 ditto. Are they all alco's ?

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

R-Design was usually about 1500 more. The mid 50's price for SE was just a run out special in the last 10 months or so.
I'd say these will do very well, they've a huge following and loyal customers have been waiting a long time for the new model.
There'll need to be a massive improvement in refinement to compete with the Germans though.

I toyed with the idea of getting one a few years ago, but I couldn't afford the new price and had a few close calls with imported specimens (that turned out to be lemons-in-waiting). I still regard the outgoing model as a fine car, this new one is sublime, but not within my reach as a new car, unfortunately.

If somebody would like to order a t6 petrol first edition and sell it to me in 3 years that would be great. Thanks

Expect around late Spring when first deliveries will be seen. There will be no two wheel drive variant available from launch.

I sold my high mileage 10 year old T6 with all the bells and whistles recently. Great car but appalling fuel consumption. Struggled to get 2250 for it.
