I want a bit of advice. My foundation cow pedigree herd has not got in calf and I couldn't dream of fattening her As she is well proven breeding wise but would it be to ambitious to flush her next april, She has great grand daughters older looking than her. she will be 12 1/2 by then. Its just i would have 4 maidens and 6 2nd calfers available as recipients then. Iv 2 straws left of an old bull that she had her first calf by that I hope to use. Thanks.

Get someone to handle her and see that the ovaries and internals are all in place and no cysts etc and then you'll know better if she's just not cycling anymore or any problems. I wouldn't be going to the expense of organising it without knowing better, oldest cow we did here was 8 and only ended up with six eggs.

no problems that end. she cycles like Lance Armstrong. She calved bit late held for 5 weeks when done then repeated. but il will give her break anyhow. I don't want to part just yet with her. she is a pure doll. she bred best bull and cow you could hope to get

The other thing to think about is that do you really want to breed that many animals off of a 12.5yo cow? She may be a great cow but surely if you're breeding well then 4 generations later you should have cows with better breeding potential? You mention having her great grand daughters on farm. They would be higher genetic merit animals after another 3-4 generations of top AI bulls would you not agree?

In theory you would be correct, however they may not be alwalys better and if the cow was still outpreforming her daughters , yes I woulkd certainly be looking at it carefully. best of luck

I'd say go for it so if she's worth that much to you. Make sure an synchronize more recipients than you think you'll need in case some don't follow the script. An match her with the best bull you can find so you get the best quality offspring for your efforts. Let us know how she responds to superovulation
