    Hi all,
heard it said on the radio today that resistance training could have benefits if your looking to lose a few inches off the belly. Is this true? if so what is resistance training and are there any work outs I could do on alternate days when I'm not speed walking/jogging? I do have a 10k kettle bell if this would help?
    thanks

ps: I am aware that diet is also a key issue.

If you have fat there, it'll be about using the fat.

Fat is a store of calories so using more calories than you take in will use the fat.

For me, I think I'm roughly using 2000 calories a day without exercise. I eat food which adds calories (check all food products nutrition part, calories is the Kcal number). Off all the exercises I've done to use calories, I've found running uses the most for the amount of time put in.

Although diet/fat is the main culprit for an extended waistline I think bloating and lack of muscle tie in second place.

So for tightening your muscles around that area I've found knee raises do the job.

I'd only need to do knee raises twice per week to maintain a flat stomach, when you get better at it hold a dumbbell in place with your feet to add extra resistance.
