    Hi guys,

I am currently working as a waitress, my hours are all over the place and tbh I'm just not happy at work. Applying for a job in a cafe, the owner told me to send in my cv, and basically sounds like she'll base cv only, without an interview UNLESS l have experience working in a cafe. (which l dont)

So how can l sell myself? l really want this job, its full time and less stressful than my current job. I am a hard worker and willing to put my hand at anything, l know myself l can do this job and it suits me but how can l put that down on a cv?? how can l convince the woman??

    Tips please

Suggest in your cover note that you are willing to work a trial week for free to get up to speed and prove you're easy to work with. Mention that you are a hard worker and a quick learner. Google whatever you need to know about cafe work now so you can get acquainted with whatever might be thrown at you. Its possible she plans to ring you for a phone interview. Make sure your CV is impressively laid out and no longer than 3 pages. There are probably plenty of CV layouts online too and get it into her ASAP so you don't miss your chance!

If you are a very punctual person, you should stress this in the cover letter / on the phone. You need to be reliable. No one will hire a person who is often late and can't be relied on.

If you deal well with pressure state this also. Say can keep on top of orders and are great at juggling tasks and most of all you are a people person, love tending to customers and like to see them leaving happy so they will come back again. If you get the job do the above and you will get out of the job what you put into it. Your current unhappiness will be a distant memory.

Great tip about offering a free trial. Definitely consider that.

    Good luck.

    Don't lie
    if you have no reference
    ask a teacher/principle
    a college course lecturer
or maybe even someone who you babysitted for

but don't say references upon request unless you know you can get them
other wise you won't get the job period if they ask you for them.

Also don't consider you're current boss as a reference
they don't tend to give them out if you're searching for another job, unless you get on well with them and you tell them this new job is closer to home etc...

l know my boss would give me a reference l just havent asked her yet and lv to hand in my cv tomorrow, il be seeing my boss tomorrow night if shes around and l can ask her then, l know she would give it to me, l would just rather ask her first than her getting a phone call out of the blue asking about me
