I just got work done on the car and it turned out dearer than I thought it was going to be. Im in Canada here but just want to see if what I was charged is about right. I had a leak in the power steering fluid line so got the line changed, changed the serpintine belt and serviced the car. Cost me 820 dollars so 573 euro. Is this about right?

That sounds very expensive for a run of the mill car. But maybe mechanics can charge that over there

Yeah maybe thats the case but I thought it was gonna be around 600 max. The car is a 2006 ford fusion(similar to a mondeo at home) so definitely run of the mill

You're able to say that without even knowing the model & engine of the car?

For a run of the mill car for a serpentine belt, power steering fluid and a power steering line, I wouldn't expect that much.
Because if that's normal, people really have blown the cost of doing work on alfas out of all proportion (would be no more than 400 on a 156)

Citroen wanted €280 for a power steering fluid line for a 2002 C5 a few months back!
