What does this dial do??? I've read the manual and it says nothing about it.
Moving it around seems to have no effect.
Its eating away at me haha

Changes the temperature from hot to cold?

    Hot air/cold air?

It's the pitch bend control for the engine exhaust note.

Blue flames or red Flames out of your exhaust.

This allows the centre vent to be hot or cold. It's actually a nice feature, it allows you to have warm air on the windscreen and nice cool air for the driver...

It changes the temperature of the air coming out of those two vents in the middle.

If you ever are bleeding the radiator/changing coolant you need to set it all the way to red.

I tried messin g with it. Seemed to make no difference to the air temp coming out of the middle vents.
Will try again when on a long drive

    Was the engine warmed up?

It's actually an air blending control wheel. You set the base temperature for the air coming from all vents with the digital display control. You can then fine tune the air coming from the center vents by turning the wheel towards red or blue.

It allows quick, on-the-fly adjustment of air temperature coming towards you and the passenger, depending on how you feel at that exact moment, without having to disrupt the main temperature of the cabin. There should be a noticeable change in the temperature of the airflow, assuming the center vents were directed towards you.

It's a great feature I think, it allows you to control the temp of the incoming air from the 4 face vents while still maintaining cabin temp, I normally set 20 both sides on auto and sometimes the supply temp is a bit too cold, turn the wheel to the middle and the air is supplied not as cold but cool enough to keep the car at the set temp and not freeze your face off!

So just finished a 2hour motorway trip.
I think I'm just not sensitive enough to the tempreture change that control must provide.. couldn't feel a massive difference. I did have the air temp set at 22degrees so maybe it's more noticeable in winter when I might be turning it up to 25.
For now I'm going to leave it sitting bang in the middle!

did you have aircon on? If I have it off, I don't see any difference, but it's a massive difference with Air Con on.

I find it annoying, almost as annoying as the inability to set the driver side as the master control. Preferred VAG climate control.

If I set controls at 22, and have the dial set to red, the car is too warm, if I have the dial set to blue it's too cold. So I can't decide if I should set it to blue or red as default. Also would like to know if one or the other is better for fuel consumption.

Set to neutral (middle) and the cab will be of uniform temp.

It's a very useful feature when you fancy a bit of cold air on your face without affecting the cab temperature.

No need for 'master control' as the zoning system works well.

Air con compressor is engaged regardless of what you set the 'vent setting' so no effect on consumption.
