Getting to the Chinese Embassy

    Hi,

I'm going to the Chinese embassy tomorrow to apply for a z visa and am confused - is it on Ailesbury road or Merrion Road? There seem to be 2 addresses!

Also, I'm coming from Heuston station and won't be there until about 11 am. The embassy closes at 12 so I only have an hour. I guess I will probably have to take a taxi, but does anyone have any other ideas on how to get there asap?

    Thanks!

    Dawn

For a visa application you go to the consulate on Merrion Road. Taxi is really your only option as you're tight for time. It could be quite busy there at 11 so you might be queuing for a while.

When you're finished you can get a bus back into town and another to Heuston. There's a bus stop across the road.

    Hi!

Thanks for your reply - that helps! One other thing - if you were there recently, can you remember how long it took for your visa to be processed? They say 4 working days, but I want to make sure! If I go tomorrow, do you reckon it would be ready by Thursday?

They'll tell you when you hand in your application when it will be ready. You pay on collection. Not sure if Monday-Thursday would constitute 4 working days but they'll tell you tomorrow. Just looking at their website, they're closed on Monday week, Sept 8th, so if it wasn't ready for Thursday it would be Tuesday 9th.

If you apply Monday they will give you Thursday for collection day. Assuming all is well with your application. You can ask for a speedy process which will cost extra.

When you're done at the consulate and if you don't need to go into town and want to get back to Heuston Station, walk down Shrewsbury Road, hang a right onto Ailesbury Road, down as far as Donnybrook and cross the N11 where you can get a 145 at the bus stop right outside the bus garage (opp the church), that will take you straight to Heuston Station, the terminus is right outside the main entrance. It will take 10 minutes and will save you getting two buses or bus & Luas.
