Just wondering if the FE1's are generally on par with university exams when it comes to difficulty, or would they be much more difficult, and if so - why?

My take, having graduated last summer and sat my first four FE-1s in April, is the actual standard of answer required is the same as college. It's the volume of material you need to cover which is the hard thing.

In a typical college exam, you will have a very good idea what's coming up. So if you have to do 4 questions in your exam and you have 7 or 8 topics prepared you will be covered.

The absolute key to passing FE-1 exams is being able to answer 5 questions. 5 solid but simple answers will invariably get you over the line. If you can only answer 4, they would need to be very good to get you a pass. Therefore you need to have lots of topics prepared, typically 12+.

With certain subjects you can cut down more (property you would be covered with 8 or 9) whereas other subjects like constitutional or contract you probably need 15+.

So in short, standard of answer the same but way more topics need to be covered!!

My personal opinion is that the fe1s are more difficult. My results never matched my uni exams. And I answered 5 questions once and failed a company exam. Do a search, this had been covered lots of times.
