Out of contract 30 day notice?

I am currently out of contract with my midband provider. Efibre has moved into my area and i am changing to vodafone/eircom. I rang to cancel and i was offered a two free months to reconsider.

I was told that the are no strings attached and that i can just give 30 days notice if i still wish to cancel after the free month.

My question is do i have to give 30 day notice to cancel?

I seen a reference in a previous about not having to give 30 day notice and if they charge you a fee then it has to be refunded.

Can some answer the above or point me in the direction of a thread or further info in relation to this.
