Stage could be one for the breakaway but right up Matthews/Gilbert terrain....

APPARENTLY FROOME FELL EARLY IN THE STAGE AND WAS DOWN A MINUTE FROM THE PELOTON BUT MADE IT BACK.... NOW HE IS SEEN AROUND THE DOCTOR'S CAR.... It's like Fuente De drama all over again!

Breakaway was reeled in early as well.

    From the CN live ticker:
    15:48:06 CEST
    Orica GreenEdge
Orica GreenEdge report that Ivan Santaromita has been involved in a crash, possibly the same that took down Chris Froome. The Italian has broken his finger and is heading to hospital. Santaromita was in one of the previous escape attempts.

3 * abandons now: Bryan Nauleau and Aleksejs Saramontins along with Santaromita

Anyone know how badly hurt is Froome

    I presume he is continuing.

Well apparently he made it back to the peloton after so it must not be too bad but it won't do wonders for his injured wrist.

He injured his right hip and elbow apparently.

    Looks chaotic out there today

Looks touch and go for me whether this break is staying away, SK and Kirby are convinced with a gap of 5'24 and 36km to go. There are crosswinds coming which will make it more difficult for the break. Could be very close indeed

Spartacus was setting the pace by himself but now is at the very back and in a bit of trouble...seemed like a mechanical.

Disaster for the breakaway - Dupont has been dropped and then shortly afterwards Hesjedal came down hard on a corner, and had his bike run over by the moto

which garmin went down on the corner?

And now De Marchi's gone by himself. I think that's just stimied any chance of the break winning

    Ryder Hesjedal, in the break

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,428 ✭✭✭Talib Fiasco

Garmin really have no luck. Gutted for Ryder, not been a good Vuelta for him

Can't believe they show Hesjedal crash & then no more footage of him for the next 5 minutes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,526 ✭✭✭✭Darkglasses

Peloton seem to be knocking off the pace. Don't understand that one.

    Cadel dropped

De Marchi certainly deserves his stage win today. Biggos kudos.

Froome's missing off it too he was at 2:17 same as dan martin

I don't think he should have got the same time as Martin/Gilbert tbh.

Bit slack from likes of Contador & Valverde to lose a few seconds there, however few.

No, looked like that to me too - looked like a second or so between tehm & at most 2 seconds Froome back to others.

quintana needs to gain as well, so expect an attack from him on the slopes.

Froome and contador have to watch each other.

Hopefully they all are close together for the final time trial even though its short. would make it interesting.

For me it will be between froome, contador and quintana. I expect valverde to give way because he cant keep it up day after day...

I agree ....Quintana will take over Movistar leadership in final week
I still think it will be a Froome/Contador/Quintana podium

Oh BTW I was referring to the temperature :D
