    Hey folks,

Just wondering if many on here do the Dundalk to Dublin commute ?

I will be moving up there soon so am looking at all options and have a few questions that maybe people may know the answer to ?

    1. Does anyone here here get the Matthews bus ? if so, does the 5pm dublin - Dundalk bus take the full 90min. The girlfriend says she was told its actually less ?
    2. Does anyone get bus up and train back ?
    3. Does anyone know is it possible to get a monthly iarnroid eireann ticket that is only one way a day and reuced price to the normal one then ? i presume not, but thought i would ask ask it is easieest for me to get a bus up and a train back
    4. is there any hope of getting free parking around the train station in Dundalk ?
    5. anyone here car pool ? :)

    thanks

That Street view link should show an area with a load of cars parked on it. It's waste land used for free parking by commuters using the railway station. It fills early enough and empties when the 1730 train arrives usually midweek. It's about 50 metres away from the railway station entrance on the Carrick side of the railway bridge.

Dunnes is down the Ecco Road and parking on that road wouldn't be well thought of nor would your car be very safe as it can be a busy road and is relatively narrow. The spot I linked to is probably your best bet at free close by parking tbh

Bus up and Train back would be too expensive.

The 5pm bus back generally would arrive at the Marshes around 6.15 or so. When the colleges are in a lot of the evening services will fill up and a 2nd bus will be sent. The first one can leave 5-10 minutes early and go via the Port Tunnel and get to Dundalk for just after 6 if it's clear enough.

There's bike racks out front and should be fairly safe with the SC security and general busy-ness of the area.
