    Sucklers hardly need meal?
    Kg or 2 of barley

If you have plenty of grass ( and you should have) no need for ration. Ration may actually cause heifers/cows to come into too much milk too fast and cause scour in. Off to grass and not too much and keep an eye on them. If you want to spend a mineral bucket might be an idea.

good point a bit of cal mag might not go astray you can but it straight from some vets. Small bit of ration so less than half a kg(even a bit of molases) with cal mag. Just be sure that as next heifer calves that she is used to cal mag before she joins group. Not really possible to get minerals buckets with it in them (I think) and hard to insure intake.

I'd have big reservations about minerals through water especially cal mag from now on on wet days cows won't drink a huge amount .id be dusting paddocks as well or getting a simple 3 way with cal bag made up .big chance to take especially with fresh calvers

Good point but always worked for us. I can up the concentration of minerals in water to account for less water drank.
Actually only ever had one case of tetany here in all the length were here

Nutribio minerals. Phosphorus and trace elements goes to every trough in the place so what ever is here gets it. Going to try bolus for heifers on out farm next yr

If the AAx are out of a dairy herd you probably want them to have less milk, the brother has 15 AAx Heifers going on second calvers this year they reared their 15 calves plus 10 Fr calves between them - no meal....
