I'm struggling to know what is suitable to wear. I've been a student for the last 6 years and am now doing a teacher training course.

I need some inexpensive clothes that will be appropriate for the workplace. I will be teaching in the adult education sector.

    I'm in my early 40's, 5ft 7 and am a size 14/16.

Am I being too safe if I wear black trousers / top combo?

thats not too safe although it seems to be the "work uniform" of irish ladies so it is not entirely adventurous!

I think as long as it is a good quality pair of trousers (not the cheap shiny kind) that have a good cut you will be fine. you can get some different colours and cuts for a bit of variety. Dunnes have loads of trousers at the moment, even some nice patterned ones although I suppose they will be more obvious if you wear them very frequently!

then mix them up with a few tops and cardigans!
