This is ridic. How do we petition for government departments to stop using BOI. I'm going to be anxious now before every payday if there's uncertainty regarding getting paid.

    Hi all,

Bank of Ireland confirms that all other banks have received any delayed payment originating from Bank of Ireland. Many of these payments have already processed and all credits will be in accounts by the end of today. The Bank extends an apology to those who experienced a delay today.

    Thanks

    Billy

Does this also affect Bank of Ireland to Bank of Ireland payments?  Or just Bank of Ireland to other banks?

There's never a delay in taking money from people's accounts when it comes to current account fees and makey-uppy maintenance charges. Funny that.

    Hi veganrun,

    Thank for your post.

This mainly affected payments to other banks.

    Thanks

    Billy

Is it too early to say there's a problem again?
    No wages yet!
    Will there? Won't there?
    Ooh the suspense!

We need to remember that its payDAY, meaning that you can get paid at any time during that business day. There is absolutely no obligation on any bank to have money in your account first thing in the morning. Over 85% of people in Europe actually get their salaries / wages paid in during the day and not early morning.

That may be, however payday is nothing more than a commonly used saying, not used to define that payment can arrive at any time during the day. Also, in the context of this issue, there have been two confirmed faults with the BOI payment system when paying public servants. It's not as though everyone is being greedy saying they want their money by the time their morning alarm goes off...it's the fact that due to 2 mess ups people have been left feeling anxious as to whether they will get paid properly. *the first salary lodgement messup resulted in some civil servants not getting paid for a day or two after 'payday'
