Internet connection with just my Laptop

    Had to do a factory reset there last week on the laptop and ever since I have been having a lot of trouble with the internet connection.

    The diagnostic tells me either of two faults:

    The remote device or resource won't accept the connection

    or

    The connection between your access point, router, or cable modem and the internet is broken.

    Like I said its just my laptop this happens to and not any of the others.

    ISP is UPC using the Horizon Box

    Older laptop perhaps? Also are the time and date correct right now?

    Wired or wireless?

    After a "factory reset" did you update / install drivers? (If you go in to device manager, does the wireless adapter show up or is there a few icons with a yellow exclamation mark?)

    Ye everything seems up to date, its not working for me at the moment. So I've had to post this from my phone.

    There's the little yellow triangle over the signal strength bar at the moment and the troubleshooting is telling me that the remote device.......

    Old password entered maybe? Set it up again from scratch.

    Nope, it's an intermittent problem so it does work at times.

    really depends on your wireless card. if you google it more often than not there is already a solution.
