    Hi all,
I'm wondering where does bike fittings around Westmeath/Longford/Offaly area. I have a pretty basic road bike (Ridley Eos) and am finding that after 40km or so I start getting "tiredness" pains in my hips, side of my legs and shoulders. I feel stretched on the bike so was thinking of getting it adjusted to suit me.

I've plenty of miles up and wouldn't be overly tired after 40km averaging 27/8 km/h so I'm ruling out lack of fitness being the issue. Or am I wrong? I'd also be plenty fueled up for the spins so I'm ruling out hunger/lack of energy too!

Based on the above, would a bike fitting alleviate the "tiredness"? Would it help do ye think?

Have you tried asking in Buckley's Cycles? They have a shop in Athlone and Tullamore.

Alan Maye in Tri and Run mullingar, €50. I haven't had a fitting from him but I know a few people who swear by him.

I bought the bike there and their fitting consisted of "ah ya look alright on that now so yer good to go". Only adjustment was let the saddle up/down. Wasn't impressed and wouldn't believe they can do a proper fitting

I had a bike fitting in Velocity Bike Shop in Galway recently and I was very impressed. They use the new Apex system that can be adjusted by the fitter from the computer while you are cycling.

+1 for the Apex fitting system that Velocity are doing. I found it really worthwhile, definately an improvement in comfort and power with the new position. Here's a bike radar review of the system:

I had a very similar experience with Trizone, ended up not engaging my flutes for 9 months and pulled my kneecap out of position.

Pat from Shannonside, in Athlone, is very good too.

    Hello,

Are you still comfortable with your bike fit....???

Any more updates since ( or pointers)

Thinking of booking next week.... :)

Yes, money well spent in my opinion. I did Mizen to Malin in September and no bother, felt comfortable and planted on the bike with no aches or pains over 850km.

I've transferred the position to my winter bike now and it's great to have a repeatable position that works.

A few mates have been for an Apex fit too since I had mine done and they all seem pleased with the outcome.

The process seems pretty scientific, as an example, my Dad has had a knee replacement and does 2-300km most weeks on his Canyon. He booked a fitting with Velocity and the plot from the power meter picked up straight away that he has one leg slightly shorter than the other. After some shimming of his cleats and a few positional changes, his power and balance had a noticeable improvement. He's very happy with his new position.
