Hi all, I got a price earlier today from a Suzuki dealership for €1024 plus VAT for a new abs unit for a 2006 Suzuki swift. Are these lads taking the p1$$ or is this an accurate price? Really don't want to be ripped off! Thanks.

Sounds expensive. Was it just for the pump or also sensors?
Sensors can be a ***** to replace so there could be a lot of labour costs (besides the extra cost of going to a dealership).

At least get one or two more quotes before you decide, from local independents.

    Run away from main dealer.
Get a couple estimates from independent workshops

Unfortunately I've been told by a couple of mechanic friends that I should get it replaced at a dealership as it can be a very time consuming job and the part would be covered afterwards with a 2 year warranty.

2nd hand part from brakers be cheapest

ebay have used one for €250 with 12 month warranty. Im sure you find a mechanic to fit it for less than €250.

I know some abs pumps can be a bugger to bleed but even so you'll save €500 +

its all down to what your prepared to pay dealer.

I use to have a mechanics like your friends so I took up DIY and realised some of them are only interested in easy money for simple jobs.
