    Hi everyone,

I worked in a nursing home as a care assistant at the start of the summer for 6 weeks, at the initial interview the manager said that she could hire me full time for those 6 weeks ( as others were on holidays and I was also going away) and that when I went back to college I could get part time hours at the weekend, which was the main reason I took the job as the pay wasn't as good as other places I had interviewed for but they were only offering summer work. Emailed her about 2 weeks ago just asking when I could start back and she told me 2 people that were out sick so she didn't have a job for me anymore. I started looking for other jobs and am due to start working as a home carer in 2 weeks, I have emailed her for a reference as I require one for my new job but got no reply (this was last Monday). Should I just email again? I feel like it's the least she could do after saying that I'd have a job come August/September and not bothering to contact me until I asked her , thanks for the help!

I would tell your prospective employer about the 6 weeks work you did, mention that you tried to get in contact with her but you think she might be away so leave the number with the employers to ring in their own time. I don't see what else you can do unless there was another person in charge during those 6 weeks that you could get in touch with

Yes I'd agree with ringing her and specifying you want a reference can you use her as one.

See this is a big deal to you setting out.on your career path trying to get a cv together.
However your nursing home employer only saw you there with them for a few weeks and does not c the urgency of your request.

    Good luck
