Rent Allowance Stopped

A friend of mine (lone parent with 2 children) has had her rent allowance stopped as she is suspected of having her boyfriend live in her house. A social welfare officer called to the house one morning while the boyfriend was visiting. It was explained that he does not live there and to prove this he was asked to furnish a bank statement to the dept with proof of his own address. The bank statement was acquired and sent on as requested. However, in the meantime her rent allowance has now been stopped.(It has been ten weeks at this stage). The landlord is understandably going mad. My friend was told that the welfare officer called out again last week but she wasn't at home and now she doesn't know what to do next ... Any suggestions?

In the ten weeks has she had no letter from SW to inform her?

I believe that she was informed in person by the CWO officer who called to the house... But I will recheck this.

Shocking, no wonder LL's hate rent allowance if that's what happens! I would have her call down to the SWO every day until she gets a definitive answer from someone before she ends up homeless...
