Either Westjet to St. John's, or Air Canada/ Aer Lingus to Toronto. Take your pick.

Careful now. The guy could want to go to Pyongyang, doesn't mean there's direct flights there!

Air Post of France were supposed to be flying a scheduled service from Paris to Halfax via Glasgow ,you could have a look at that,or a before they went bust Astreus Airlines of the UK used to fly a regular charter series from the UK direct to Deer Lake for some UK property developement company that was building holiday home there at the time.

Question asked honestly, no need to be so judgmental.

And why would anyone bother with that when you can fly from Dublin to St Johns?

Price? Connections to Deer Lake? Who knows? It's like asking why someone would travel to Dublin Airport from the north just so they could travel to New York...

I'm actually looking to go to the same destination. Westjet is so much cheaper than any other airline and Dublin to St John's only takes five hours. The problem is then that you're on the other side of the island if you're going to Deer Lake.

I just found out there's a daily bus service that leaves St John's at 7:30am (MUN University Centre) or 8:00am (Crossroads Motel) and gets you to Deer Lake (Circle K) at 5:12pm, which costs CAD 95 (~EUR 67) for a single.

The bus company are called DRL and this is their page for fare calculation: http://drl-lr.com/schedule-and-fares/

I have also been thinking of heading over in a few years. Dublin - St. John's - Halifax - Montreal - Toronto - Vancouver would be what I'd love to do. WestJet are amazing if you're looking for value :P .

Westjet were a good price but when I got to the other side and wanted to fly up to deer lake the price was nearly the same as coming across the atlantic. I'm just thinking of adding 2 days to the trip and hiring a camper and staying in a campsite that way I can at least save on hotels.

Air Canada from dublin to toronto then onto deer lake is by far the best so far and I of the cheapest will do the job for € 861 return

FYI Westjet are ending their service on Oct 25th the following is a message on their website.

"Seasonal service to and from Dublin, Ireland (DUB) ends Oct 25, 2014 and resumes Jun 14, 2015"

Wasn't this supposed to be a year round service when it was launched?

Don't believe so. TBH it was seen as a bit of a 'out of field' route when it was announced. But I'm happy to say it has done well this Summer. Might take a year or two to build up the route to require year round service.

Only announced for summer 14 originally.

Phew, my plan to head over around the end of June next year can still go ahead with the El Cheapo flights of WestJet.

I think Westjet CEO said they did it to test the market to Europe, which would make sense as it was relatively low risk with flights being short(ish)

Aren't they getting 767s in over the coming years for European ops?

The 767s will be mostly for flights from Canada to Hawaii and the Carribean

Well it is freezing cold in St Johns in winter. I am not so sure if people would go there in winter

Some people like cold weather. And a major spoke of the business plan was connections to the rest of the Westjet network.
