Planning Permission in different locality

    Hi,

I am interested in buying an acre site just outside my town to build a house on in a few years. I know there are lots of factors to consider when it comes to the planning application, but does the fact that I wasn't born or lived in that townsland/area mean that it's a straight no no??

I have lived in my town all my life, but the site is around 6km from where I grew up. I would find it hard to explain why I 'NEED' to build a house on that site!!

Are there possible ways around this or should I steer clear!?

Thanks in advance for any input or advice.

Local need should be defined in the relevant County Development Plan.
