ferrofluid and other items for schools

    hi,
    can anyone tell me if there is a place in ireland where i can buy ferrofluid?? after googling it i can only find uk suppliers.

    also is there any place in ireland where i could buy some stock for an after school science club?? i am looking for ideas of experiments i could do in a basic classroom, there is an overload when you google it!

    For chemicals, the main suppliers that spring to mind are Sigma Aldrich, Ocon Chemicals, VWR, MerckMillipore, and Fisher Scientific/Thermo Scientific. I'd recommend emailing around and getting a feel for who would be most suited for your needs. Sorry I can't help more, but I've never dealt with suppliers myself.

    You might think about doing some molecular gastronomy type things... you can order those things online from a number of places and they are really safe but can be fun to demonstrate.
    If you wanted I could give you some sodium alginate and calcium chloride. When they combine they make an instant nearly solid gel and demonstrate chelation really well...
