    Hi,

I'm planning on heading to Vienna and Prague in October. Plan is to fly into one (from Dublin) and fly home from the other, most likely using train to get between the two cities when I'm over there.
I have about 7 days but this is flexible up to approx 10 days but I am on a somewhat restricted budget and I expect Vienna to use up a lot of that!

Any recommedations in terms of other places to visit en route between Vienna and Prague? I'll be travelling solo and am happy to explore anywhere that has a bit of life and an old town vibe to it (along the lines of Krakow). I'm hearing mixed reviews about Bratislava but it is an option.

Seven days won't give you time to see Prague and Vienna, never mind places in between as well.

Yes Bratislava is a ****-hole and the people are miserable, grumpy and lazy.
Dont go near the Dubliner pub as its run by very unsavoury types, bouncers beat up anyone for no reason. Didnt happen to me though.

Yes on Budapest, Vienna, Prague and Krakow.

Vienna is yawn central imo if you're < 30 years old.

Prague & Krakow ftw; perfect mix of fun and culture.

If you want to stop somewhere on route between the two, I would recommend Cesky Krumlov.

Prague is nice but very touristy.

Great, thanks for that suggestion, Cesky Krumlov looks like a good option.

I'm 30 so fingers crossed I'll find it thrilling :D

I've been to Krakow previously and while I'd be happy to go back, I'd like this trip to be to places I haven't been before.
