I see from AA roadwatch that works are starting on Frascati Road/Temple hill until Feb 2015. Does anyone know what this work entails. Is it a redesign of the road layout or drainage/utilities work.

Presumably it means the works associated with the implementation of a new cycle lane, or what DLRC might call a cycle lane, which is a different thing altogether. As far as I can see from the attached proposals, the new cycle lane is rubbish, the same as all the other cycle lanes, designed primarily to prioritise private cars, while shoving cyclists out of the way into an entirely unsuitable 'cycle lane,' and impeding the trucks and buses. Nothing has been curtailed from the through passage of private cars, which has been kept the same, while everyone else is hemmed in (or hemmed out). My thoughts on the proposals can be found in more detail in this thread from the Infrastructure > Roads forum.

What is their fasination with narrowing already tight and winding roads.

The bus lane are all been narrowed and the bus doesn't fit inside.

    From DLR's traffic updates:
    » Frascati Road/Temple Hill Improvement Scheme **
Construction works for the Frascati Road/Temple Hill Improvement Scheme will commence during the week of the 18th August 2014, with a construction programme of 38 weeks. No work will take place during the month of December.

A Traffic Management plan will be in operation with traffic disruption kept to a minimum with business as usual.

The Frascati Road is narrow and winding?

What bus lanes? There are no bus lanes on this road.

I'm still not sure how Frascati Road is narrow and winding -- a description usually reserved for a narrow country road.

Are you by any chance talking about the 3 meter lane widths? Can't see an issue with those on 50km/h roads. The M50 has mainline lane widths of 3.25-3.5 meters with a speed limit of 100km/h.
