We are thinking about buying a house in a few months we need to get a valuation done on our house nowjust to get an idea of what it is worth now. Lots of houses in the area are going for different prices due to size, rooms and condition. We have an idea what EA we will go with so we know we can get a free valuation but is that only at the point of sale? Could we get a free one with them now telling them that we will sell with them in a few months I take it the valuation won't change drastically in a few months. We just need an idea to sort out our finances as the house has gone though a boom and a recession and a boom again since it's last valuation. I know it will never be as high as 2006 but would probably get a higher price than 2010

We did something similar earlier in the year. We actually contacted all estate agents in our area and told them that we are looking at putting our house on the market but want to see what the value is. Without exception the all send someone out to value our house for sale purposes and three of them even provided a written valuation (we didn't ask for that but it was nice to have it all the same). All of this was done for free with no obligations.
