Outside of the Legal profession are Law degrees respected and sought after by employers, or are Law graduate in general confined to jobs within the Legal profession?

I know quite a few law degree holders who went into accounting/auditing. Apparently they are highly desirable. Not sure on Irish figures but certainly recent US figures are showing that about 50% of law grads stick with law, the rest go into alternative careers.
