Hi folks, have toyota avensis 05, with automatic gearbox, which stuck in to park position , and wont move gearstick to drive, i think that gearstick release system broke, does anyone know how to override that ? need move car. i know some other makes has override hole, where put screwdriver, and releases gearstick. does this car has that ? and where?

    Thanks

A friend of mine has as automatic Corolla, its much older than the Avensis, but there is a square cap in front of the "P" on the console. When you pry the cap off there is a button underneath. Pressing that button releases the gearstick. Also, I take it you have your foot on the brake when trying.

It could be a failed brake light switch either.(BLS)

Theres a shift lock button over "P" for just such an occasion.

    Same idea as this
