UPC coax socket - screw-in or plug-in

    I will be moving soon to a house that has UPC (Horizon) working fine, but doesn't have a UPC outlet box (with a screw-in coaxial socket) but just a plain plug-in coaxial socket, something like this

    I rang UPC about this, and the person I talked so seemed to think I would need to get a UPC outlet box installed by an engineer, but I really don't think this is necessary, as the UPC service is working fine there at the moment with the existing socket.

    I have the correct cable for a plug-in coax socket, so I assume everything should work fine, as the only difference is the socket type, but maybe someone else knows better?

    UPC usually as a rule install a dual output f-connector socket for new installations as they claim it prevents signal loss especially with broadband. However the connection you mention is fine. All you need is an adapter to convert the standard co ax cable to f-connector and this can be usually got through most TV dealers or Maplins (sadly Peats are no longer there). Alternatively just change the wall socket to one with either 2 f-connectors or one with one of each, also available from the examples mentioned above and most DIY stores..
