Aer Lingus baggage charges anomaly

Don't know if I'm seeing this correctly but went to book a return flight this morning to Faro out end Sept. return early Oct. and a 15kg bag was costing €50 return (couldn't see an option to book out and return separately so I stand corrected if the option is there).
Looking at the baggage rates on the EI website Oct is low season so bags are cheaper, €10 cheaper in the case of a 15kg bag. So the bottom line seems to be that they charge both directions based on outward date (I wonder does that work in reverse if you go low season and return high?).
So I booked each leg separately and the bags are priced at the correct price. I know €10 isn't a lot but better in my pocket than EIs. It's a nice little earner for them.

I thought one bag was included as standard (i.e. 'free') in the transatlantic fares?

If bags for return flights starting in the low season are charged as low season bags for both legs, then it isn't an earner, just swings and roundabouts. No reason why they can't program their website to fix this though.

    Faro is in Portugal.

Just did a dummy run through the booking process for late May out & back early June (low to high season) and was charged low season for both legs. So you gain that way.

Be alert if travelling high to low though, it's cheaper to book separate legs.
