Ask around. Some local farmer will tell you who they use.
Our accountant isn't cheap but he's very good and worth the money

Does anyone do their own accounts? I used to do my own in the UK but not familiar with the system here. It mightn't be too bad.

Did it the first Years just load onto ROS, handy enough.
Went to accountant since, as was applying for a loan, but if you keep a ledger up to date whether hard copy or excel can help.

my accountant doesnt just do my accounts does aload of other stuff for me too, was very good during transfer of farm from my dad to me. I suppose when looking for an accountant you have to ask yourself is it just accounts or do you want more stuff done

Yea that's the service we'd be after too.
Even to make you aware of things, that may be of benefit.
Sadly some don't give that service

    wages slips, p45 etc
as i said before the accountant did alot of work when we transfered the farm.
I would always run an major purchase by the accountant before i buy to see what way to go about it.

What are farmers paying their accountants? I pay my guy around €2200/yr. He does normal farm accounts (I do my own vat)and any financial advice u ever need for this. I think he's a sound guy who's on my side. Good value?

Half that price would be bad value IMO especially when you do the vat which I thinks the most work

My lad for that kind of money does the accounts, the young lads wages, the vat and looks after any other one off issues.

Your profession have a habit of pricing low to get clients and very quickly the cost of getting the job done is back up where it was when you decided to change due to excessive charges.

Ever ask for an itemised bill including time sheets? Makes em think about it and gives you points to argue over. And if it took longer this year than last year why?
