Can anyone recommend a good website for cycling shorts, tops etc.

I'm relativity new to cycling and only have one pair of Altura ProGel shorts. They are all black so I generally end of wearing my football shorts over them which is not ideal.

    Cheers

    Cycling-specific clothing is overrated.

I spotted this fine chap this morning, apparently cycling to work in cotton boxer shorts.

Why do you feel the need to wear the football shorts?

Wiggle, cycle superstore, chain reaction, bike24, discount-bike are all places to check out and price clothing. Assos and castelli are always mentioned as great brands, but ive worn pearl izumi, sugoi and the verge kit the forum organise, all are good.

TBH the all black Alturas are very plain, I need a bit of color in my life :)

Something like these would be nice

Ah, but you'll need to do the half ironman that goes with them. :)

Ha, I figured that but surely there will be something similar on the interwebs. Going to do some serious googling, will let ye know what I find. Thanks for the websites BTW.

You can get faked pro gear on dhgate. If you don't mind some of the logos being upside down etc. They are good quality and the padding in the shorts is sewn in to last.

Takes a good 30 days to receive the gear though, which is important to bear in mind.

I have seen a couple of these people around too. There can be no salient reason for it.

OP I am with you on the too-much-black front. There is far too much black going on with cycling clothes, especially if you're on a budget. Maybe join a colourful club!

What's your budget for bib shorts?

FYI don't buy shorts, always bibs.

Bibs are comfy but a literal pain in the butt when it comes to toilet breaks!

I have the Altrua ProGel. Did 270km in two days with them with no issues

If you want garish brightly coloured jerseys there's few worse better than the cheap Aldi and Lidl ones.

    What's wrong with black bibs?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 314 ✭✭skeg16

Definitely not going to wear bibs, I prefer the shorts.

This may be a daft question but do people wear their normal shorts (i.e Altura ProGel) with a layer of colored shorts over them??

I'm happy with the padding/fit/size of my shorts....just not liking the black. I'm not saying I want to look like i'm part of a cycling team, just want shorts that don't look so plain.
