Repeat or do PLC for Nursing

Hi, a friend of mine just got her offer from the CAO and is 5 points off her course. She is going to wait and see does she get offered it in second round but if not what is the best option if she doesn't get it? Would she be better off doing a nursing PLC or repeating the leaving? Repeating is something she really doesn't want to do. Of course if there is any other solutions that would be great too, thanks!

She would have a better chance of getting it if she can repeat the Leaving and get her points up a bit.
If she goes the PLC route, she is competing for one of a very small pool of places reserved for FETAC entry.

Would training in the UK be an option?

Hmm not sure would she be waiting another year before she can go? I assume its too late now to apply?

Yep repeating is a better option. Its very difficult to get into nursing via fetac as there are only a couple of reserved places for fetac applicants.

A lot of the college's in the UK have 2 intakes a year for Nursing, they all have a September intake but then many of them also have intakes in January/February/March.

You can get in with fetac but it's limited. If I were u id repeat. I did fetac this year and did not get the offer I wanted which is nursing I got social studies. I'm going repeating this year. it's up to u. I'm in the exact same boat as you friend. Repeat not one person in my class got nursing the fetac way. Only 1 mature student. :)

Here is a quota.. I can't find the 2014 one.. I had to use spaces. http ://www2.cao.ie/fetac/FETACNursingQuota.pdf

Your young enough to repeat. I'm only just 19. Just sorry I did not repeat this year :)!

Think repeating leaving is the best option
