A review could take a few weeks, but meantime your existing medical card should be renewed automatically on a month to month basis until review is completed.

You can check here under 'card status' https://www.sspcrs.ie/portal/medapp/

When reviewing a card the hse will extend your current card on a month by month basis till review is complete, as there is a back log to get through.

Its done automatically by the hse if you have a current card but for some reason yours is coming up as not eligible. Contact them again and see what the story is.
