In a couple of months time I'm set to have a kidney removed. I'm not too concerned, I know you can lead a healthy life with one kidney but I'm very keen on doing the cork city marathon next year, I started training 2 months ago and I am progressing well. But I'm worried how the removal of one kidney might affect my plans for running a marathon. Will training after the operation be too much strain on one kidney? Any advice would be great

It's a pretty specific thing that I'd say few would have experience of. Have you tried any support groups for it? Even if they are abroad you might get an online presence.

Best of luck with the surgery and take care of your rehab.

Can I ask are you donating a kidney or is it that you have a problem with one? If you're donating then I'd say contact the IKA they're great for giving advice and knowing who you can talk to
