Wildcard Time?

    Lads,

I realise there is a thread for week 2 transfers but I thought we could start a thread for wildcards only!

I had a good start with 67 points but I am really thinking about playing my wildcard to get a dream front 7!
Is this madness or should I just wait and see what happens?

My thinking behind it is that I should rarely have to change front 7 barring injury/form whilst still having a decent defence.
I realise that if I want Aguero down the line, I will have to downgrade one of the mids.

Should I keep my wildcard or go with this plan?

    Thanks,
    JR6

You're basically using a WC to get Siggy in. Madness.

Correct me if I'm wrong... But your WC team has 8/11 of the same players.
    Siggy, Keeper and cheap defender.

I'm not convinced the new keeper and defender are that much better.
So it boils down to Siggy.... ALL ABOARD

I have 6 of that front 7 before a ball was kicked!

I had Sterling in all my drafts (and as skipper) leading up to it but opted for an 8.5 million forward instead. I felt Liverpool have two tough away games next Ciity and Spurs,. Was waiting until after GW 3 to act on Sterling.

Other than that I also have Hutton and Terry plus (Chambers in place of Debuchy temporarily).

It is a cracking team and will not need much transferring over the course of the season as you say!

Also to get Silva in my team in place of Bojan.
I had too many Man united players in my team so need to get rid of at least one of them too.
I would be changing 6 players in total and this team gives me cover from all the top teams and in reality should score alot of points throughout the year.

He's bringing in Silva too though. It's a tough call. No real cover if someone gets injured but an unreal midfield.
Who would you sell to get Aguero in? Can you get him in with two transfers?

Yeah but not all the moves are necessary. For example, bringing in Hutton is crazy (have you seen who Villa play GW4 - GW8?). You're essentially switching Silva in for Mata, which is also not a good idea based on fixtures.

I can see that you want to get Siggy in, but I think you have a solid team there, and it's a bit of a waste of a WC imo.

I would have to sell Costa/Rooney and whichever midfielder is not performing if I want Aguero.
Because of how injury prone he is i'll be waiting until he has a good run of games under his belf before I make this move.
I got burned a couple of times last season making place for him in my team only for him to get injured soon after!

I agree regarding Hutton; I just put him in there as Bruce has an injured flag on him. Bruce will possibly be staying in my team if I do this wildcard.
Also the -12 I talked about earlier does not have this move.

Hard to call between Silva/Mata. I thought before the weekend that Mata would easily have outperformed Silva...Mata was rubbish and City score alot of goals which Silva will be central to.

    Mata -> Silva
Sorry I left that out of the "changes" as you could do that transfer today, for free, if you wanted.
Thus, I wouldn't factor it into a Wildcard debate.

You're wild carding to bring Siggy in basically.

Sorry I forgot to say, I have already done my one free transfer this week which is Mate -> Siggy. This is done since Sunday night.

So my front 7 right now is

    Ramsey Siggy Cesc Sterling
    Bojan Costa Rooney

So this is why I say Bojan -> Silva...

As above, given your score and a fairly good team i wouldn't touch the wildcard now. Makes no sense.

You've had a great start with 67 points. I think it's crazy playing the wildcard now with your team. Tempting and all as that midfield is, it's not worth wasting your wildcard on.

Maybe I'll give Bojan another chance so!

I think that would be wise

I really think waiting until the end of the transfer window is wise before using the wildcard.

If you play the wildcard this week you are playing the game wrong.

absolutely particularly if you have made a good start and have a decent team. If you have got off to a shocker, picked up a few injuries and have picked players that arent starters then by all means wildcard.

Wait til the end of the tranny window

Whilst abbreviations are useful short hand for difficult to spell names on here abbreviating transfer to tranny is the most pointless and ridiculous one of all, to save 2 letters for a word that is quite simple to spell.

Okay, mini rant over. Who else is using their wildkar this week? ;)

Might seem early to some here but I'm glad I'm on a wildcard now that Ramsey misses the weekend game.

I hope that's a joke. With all the craziness here at the moment, it's hard to tell

It would be hilarious if some transferred him out due to his red card. I'm sure there are some who will do this.

Edit: As an experiment i monitored his transfers out. In 3 minutes he has had 82 transfers out

    :eek::eek::eek:

He'll be back for the CL next week week too so more chance of another suspension or injury. Makes sense to get him out now everyone.

    :p

Abbreviating a word to save on letter in a rant about a two letter word :p

hate the tranny one myself though

It was a purposed joke to parody the futility of such actions. ;) Similarly this thread is just as futile. It's absolutely incredible that people are using their wildcards already.

I'd be very interested to see the current team of anyone contemplating a WC.

152,604 wild cards played in week 1! Didn't think it would be that high.
